The Sown Seeds Collection is a dedicated philanthropic book imprint rooted in the belief that even the darkest tragedies can give way to a harvest of hope. It is a curated line of stories built on the foundation of compassion, designed not just to entertain, but to actively change lives.
A Legacy of Foundation and Love
This collection is a deeply personal tribute, created in loving memory of my parents, Carolyn and Edward Sparks. Growing up, they instilled in me the value of a solid foundation, unwavering strength, and a compassionate heart. The Sown Seeds Collection honors their legacy by taking those exact values and passing them on to those left vulnerable in the wake of tragedy.
The Catalyst for Change
The mission behind this imprint was first born from a devastating personal heartbreak. A few years ago, a childhood friend of mine was sentenced to life in prison for taking another person's life. That single act of violence left multiple families fractured and innocent children on both sides without a parent. It served as a stark, painful reminder that in these situations, nobody wins. Everyone is hurt, and the devastation leaves a lasting mark on the next generation.
Looking at the wreckage of this situation, I knew a choice had to be made: allow the cycle of generational trauma to continue, or step in and attempt to build a bridge.
The Expanding Cost of Violence
Recently, the urgent need for this mission was reinforced in the most painful way imaginable. A brother-in-arms—a close friend I served alongside since 2018 through tours in Japan and Bahrain—was tragically murdered and robbed in the Philippines. Today, his killers remain at large.
While my other collection, EverRoyal Sparrowhawk, honors fallen service members, his senseless death strikes at the very core of The Sown Seeds mission. It was a crushing reminder of how abruptly violence can tear a family apart, regardless of who you are or where you are in the world. I am fiercely dedicated to using this platform to raise awareness of his story in the pursuit of justice.
A Mission Beyond the Page
The Sown Seeds Collection was created to step into the gap left by these tragedies. A portion of the proceeds from every book sold under this imprint goes directly toward establishing educational scholarships and support programs for youth impacted by violence, as well as making direct donations to the families of victims—including the family of my murdered brother-in-arms.
By broadly investing in the families and children affected by these senseless acts, we are providing tangible resources, opportunity, and a path forward.

The guiding principle of this collection is James 3:18: "Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness."
This truth is reflected in the very emblem of the collection: a deeply rooted tree merging the protective strength of the Oak, the dignified perseverance of the Magnolia, and the reconciling peace of the Olive branch, all flanked by Rosemary for remembrance. Through The Sown Seeds Collection, we are choosing to act as peacemakers. We are turning a history of heartbreak into a future of reconciliation, proving that when we intentionally plant seeds of goodness, a beautiful harvest will follow.

The Sown Seeds Annual Scholarship
In keeping with our commitment to invest in the next generation, The Sown Seeds Collection awards an annual scholarship to graduating seniors or current college students who have been personally impacted by violence. We look for students who are using their experiences to drive positive change through academic pursuit, creative arts, or community activism. Our goal is to ensure that tragedy does not define a young person's future, but instead serves as a stepping stone toward leadership and resilience.
